In reading "Our Daily Bread" the other day, entitled "His Peace", I was reminded of how much of us worry about everything in our lives today. We worry about our jobs, our finances, our families, and the chaos in the world today. And sometimes we even worry about our "worrying" too much.
But our true and only peace can only be found in God, and God alone. As stated in chapter 26, in the Book of Isaiah:

Isaiah 26: 3-4 (NIV)
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
Throughout the previous chapters of the Book of Isaiah, God's prophet speaks about God's upcoming judgement upon those who ignore and defy God's commands. A key target of God’s displeasure is the "self-serving pride of human beings" and their governments. The prophet writes:
Isaiah 26: 5 (NIV)
"He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust.”
This isn’t likely a reference to a particular city but rather a poetic declaration of God’s displeasure with the world systems that deny Him. We may not recognize it, but we too deny God's grace and love for us in our own lives. God showed us His grace and love for us when He came down out of heaven and became a man and died for us on the cross, the Cross of Calvary...through the Person of Jesus. Yes, Jesus Christ, was God Himself in the flesh showing His ultimate love for mankind, us.
It is only through our faith and total "absolute surrender" to God, in His Son Jesus Christ, that will we ever find true peace in our lives. No matter how difficult or chaotic our lives may become, we can always find that "perfect peace and steadfast mind" in our Lord.
PERSONNAL COMMENT:
Let us not continue another day in our lives without surrendering to the peace that awaits us if we would only put our faith in God's Son, Jesus Christ. Allow Him to take away chaos amid the storms in our lives.
