In the Book of Luke, Jesus is explaining to His disciples the day of His return after His rejection and suffering He must first receive from the current generation. The time is coming when we will long for our Lord's return. Many will say that He has come and to "'Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them".

Luke 17: 22-25

Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. 24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

Many false teachers will rise up toward the end of our time and try to predict the Lord's coming. But do not be deceived. The Lord's return will be: "as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven". There will be no mistake upon our Lord's return. Everyone will see it...it will be like a great lightning flash across the sky, from one end to the other.

The true question is this: Are you ready to receive your Lord? Is your heart ready? You see, we cannot receive the Lord as we are today. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. We must "die to self" first, and be "born again" of the spirit, the Spirit of God. As we come to "absolute surrender" of ourselves to God, He will then give us a "newness of life", a life that is incorruptible by this world.

1 Corinthians 15: 50-52

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Some of us may face a physical death before His coming, but rest assured, we will be made alive again with incorruptible bodies so that we can enter the kingdom of God and be with our Lord.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

The "Day of the Lord" is coming! Is your heart prepared? If not, fall to your knees now and accept Jesus into your heart and "surrender" all to Him so upon the flash of the lightning and the sound of the last trumpet, you too will be changed and prepared.

Joel 2:11

For His camp is very great; For strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; Who can endure it?
