August 06, 2021: God Is Molding Us into the Image of His Son. The Question is: Do We Allow Him To?

Over the years as I have been growing as a Christian, I have come to learn a very important lesson in my life: I cannot fight God for "His will" for my life. I can choose to be miserable and constantly try and make my own decisions for my life, or come to complete and "absolute surrender" to Him and live in harmony with Him.

Once we have chosen to place our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord of our lives, we have become children of God, and have given Him the permission to direct our lives as He pleases. God always has the best intentions for us. Our constant battle with God, in regards to our "self-will", reminds me of the Book of Jeremiah and the story of the "Potter and the clay".

Jeremiah 18: 1-4

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: "Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.

Jeremiah was told by God to go down to the potter's house and God would show Jeremiah what plans He had for the nation of Israel. They had continually turned their backs against God, and worshiped idols of other gods nd continually sinned against Him. Then the Lord said to Jeremiah in the following: verses:

5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel".

God is the Potter, and we are the clay in His hands. The question is this:

Are we allowing God to mold us as He sees fit, or are we trying to mold ourselves? That question sounds crazy if you think about it. How can we mold ourselves if we are the clay? Not likely!

But isn't that what we are doing every day of our lives as we make decisions for ourselves apart from God? Don't we put God second in everything we do, even in our prayer life? Think about the prayers we have prayed lately. Don't we ask God to bless our prayers of our wants and our desires?

Let us not ask God to bless our wants and desires, but let us ask God to give us His wants and desires for our lives as we come to surrender everything to Him. Let Him mold us as He wants to, not in what we want. Let's us not become like the nation of Israel, when God said to them:

Verse: 11: "Look, I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and reform your ways and your actions"

PERSONNALCOMMENT:

Let us remember that God is in total control of all things on this earth. He allows to happen, happen! As we come to full and absolute surrender to God, we will find our true rest and peace in Him and at the same time He is able to mold us into a blessing that will bring Him glory.
