Many of us as Christians know where our "final destination" will be. But the question is this: Are we truly prepared before we get there? What I mean by this is; "Are we too complacent in our walk with our Lord? Do we take for granted the blessings God has given us?"

I have. I was shown this very lesson this past weekend. I hurt someone close to me that almost destroyed our relationship we have had for years. I took for granted their trust, their love and most important their believe in me as a trustworthy person, the very character of Jesus that we must become on a daily basis as we remain surrendered to Him every day.

I thank God for His love for us because He never gives up on us. He is always there to refine our character in us, even though we do not see the character flaws in ourselves. Read the following scripture in I Peter:

ree

I Peter 1: 6-9 (NKJV)

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

You see we rejoice in finding salvation in our Lord Jesus. But you see, if we have come to know our Savior, through His death on the cross, we must recognize that He expects nothing less than the very best from us, and if there are still character flaws in us, He will allow certain trials to come our way to refine who we are to better serve Him for His praise, honor and glory.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

It is because of our belief in Him, we have inexpressible joy, and it is in that joy, we know that we have received redemption for our souls, we know where our "future home" will be. It will be in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, sometime very soon. Thank you, God, for your everlasting love for us and your patience as You refine us into the person you want us to be. May we always bring glory to Your name.
