Today I visited a good friend of mine this morning, Russ Bogue. Russ and I became good friends over the past three years. He, his wife Nancy, and I, were part of a bible study Life Group that I help facilitate a while back. We have remained close friends since then.

I am dedicating today's post to Russ Bogue. He helped me during the writing process of the "Absolute Surrender Workbook". It was from this workbook that this blog, Salvation2Surrender.com, was created, all by God's leading and directing.

This morning I went to visit Russ at his home to encourage him, pray with him and to have a good time of fellowship with him, maybe for the last time. You see, Russ has been struggling with brain cancer for the last two years, undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments.

Our conversation this morning was more focused on the time Russ has left in his opportunity in serving his Lord. You see, we all know that we will die someday, but what we do not know is, when. But Russ has a more definite timetable...maybe three to six months. His window of opportunity is small, so he wants to make the best of that time left. We are all, as Christians, challenged by the Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians to make the most of our opportunity before us, for the days are evil, and more so today.

Ephesians 5: 15-17

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

Let us not take for granted our days before us. Let us live each day as our last, making each day "A Day of Opportunity for the Lord". Thank you, God for every day you give us, every breath we take, for it is all from You.
