I am dedicating today's post to the service men and women who are and have served at their post in Afghanistan. This week we have lost 13 brave individuals, who we know very little about at this time. The one thing we do know, they gave their lives to help serve the people of Afghanistan.
Through these past 20 years, we have lost over 2400 men and women during our involvement in this country. As we pull out completely of this country, in the next few days, we do not know if more men and women will be lost due to the evil that reigns there. Let us keep our service men and women in our prayers during this time.
Every day in our lives should be precious to us. We do not know when our last day here on this earth will be. Our God knows and He yearns for us to come to know Him intimately. He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. He created us and knew us from before we were born.
Psalm 139: 13: (NKJV)
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I am reminded of my good friend, Russ Bogue, who went home to be with his Lord this past year. I remember about a year ago, we had a conversation of how much time he had left in serving his Lord. He had already been suffering for over two years with cancer. He knew he had a more definite timetable...maybe three to six months. His window of opportunity was limited, so he wanted to make the best of that time left.
We all, as Christians, are challenged by the Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians to make the most of our opportunity before us, for the days are evil, and more so today.

Ephesians 5: 15-17
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is.
PERSONNAL COMMENT:
Let us not take for granted the days we have left before us. If you do not know the Lord in a personal way, let today be the day that we come to "absolute surrender" to Him. Let us live each day as our last, making each day "A Day of Opportunity for the Lord". Thank you, God, for every day you give us, every breath we take, for it is all from You. Romans 11: 36: For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
