Upon reading in the book of Colossians in chapter 1, the Apostle Paul addresses the importance of our relationship with our God. He encourages the the Colossians to be filled with the knowledge of God and with all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Colossians 1: 9-10

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

And we, as human beings, were created in the image of God to help God with His creation here on earth. We are here to give God glory by managing His creation but most importantly to have a relationship with our Creator and walk worthy and be pleasing to Him.

Genesis 1: 26-27

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

You might be saying to yourself, "How can we get to know the all-powerful, and invisible God"? How can we build a relationship with Him? The Apostle Paul gives us the answer. If we come to "full and absolute surrender to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ", in our life, then we can come to know our God as well.

It is through our "absolute surrender" to Jesus that we can come to know our Heavenly Father. Jesus was "God in the flesh". God surrendered His holy throne in heaven and became a man for us so that He could reconcile us to Himself, by dying on the cross for our sins.

Colossians 1: 19-20

For it pleased the Father that in Him, (Jesus), all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him, (Jesus), to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

Since we were created in God's image to glorify and please Him, let us fully surrender ourselves to "the power of the Holy Spirit", that was given to us by God, so that we can walk in a manner that will give Him glory.
