In reading today's "Our Daily Bread" in the Book of Proverbs reminded me of how foolish we can become in making wrong decisions in life. We know in our minds and hearts what is right, based on the instructions we received growing up, but we still choose to make the wrong choices. Read the following:
Proverb 5: 1-2; 11-14 (NIV)
My son, pay attention to my wisdom,
turn your ear to my words of insight,
2 that you may maintain discretion
and your lips may preserve knowledge.
11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, “How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!
13 I would not obey my teachers
or turn my ear to my instructors.
14 And I was soon in serious trouble
in the assembly of God’s people.”
So how do we, as God's children, make the right choices in life? First, and foremost, we must learn not to trust our feelings in making decisions. We must trust God's manual for life, the Bible. In God's word is the road map to a stable and prosperous life. I don't mean financial gain, even though that might come through living a godly life. I mean a life of peace and rest with our Lord. Proverb chapter 3 says it best.

Proverb 3: 5-6 (NKJV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
PERSONNEL COMMENT:
To be able to trust God with our whole heart, we must be willing to humble ourselves before Him and learn to stop choosing our own "self-will". We must "absolutely surrender" every room of our life to Him. Not 50 percent, or 80 percent...but 100 percent of ourselves to our Lord and Savior. May we all come to learn to fully surrender and find true rest and peace.
