January 03, 2022: How Do We Come to Understand God's Will for Our Life? Is It Even Possible?

This is a question many Christians seek to know about their life. Can God's truly be found or understood? The answer is yes. But there are essential elements that must take place in our lives for us to be able to see and/or understand God's will for our life.

I addressed this question earlier in a previous post, under the topic of: "Separated unto The Holy Ghost", the third chapter in the book of, "Absolute Surrender" by Andrew Murray.

Andrew Murray's book stated the following:

"It is in hearts entirely surrendered to the Lord Jesus, in hearts separating themselves from the world, and even from ordinary religious exercises, and giving themselves up in intense prayer to look to their Lord...It is in such hearts that the heavenly will of God will be made manifest."

We must first be entirely and absolutely surrendered to God if we think God will begin to show us His will for our lives. As long as we stand in the way with our own motives and selfish desires, why would God even begin to show us His will?

We must be broken before God, utterly helpless and then and only then, can God begin to pick up the pieces in our lives and mold us into the person He wants us to be. It has nothing to do with religious exercises...it has to do with "dying to ourselves daily" and allowing Him to direct our paths, not us trying to tell God which way we want to go.

Psalm 34: 18

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Psalm 51: 17

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.

But the best direction I can ever give you is to send you to a message I once heard over 35 years ago by Pastor John Macarthur, of Grace Community Church. His message, "Taking the Mystery Out of Knowing God's Will", was updated in March of 2017. This message is very detailed in finding out what God's will be for our life. My prayer and hope are that as we move into this coming new year of 2022, may we seek to find God's will for our lives. May we all come to "absolute surrender" to our God and find the "true rest" we truly seek.
