In reading "Our Daily Bread" on Sunday morning, I was reminded of the great darkness that is filling our world more and more every day. This darkness seems to become more prominent as each day goes by.

Our lives can become overwhelmed by the despair and the brokenness that surrounds us. Families are being torn apart. Children are wondering the streets with nowhere to turn, and husbands and wives are giving up on the commitment of love they once shared.

So where in this darkness can we find the Light? If we, who are Christians, already have the light within ourselves. This Light is Jesus, His Holy Spirit already lives within in. All we need to do is surrender ourselves completely to Him and allow Him to lead us down the right path.

The problem is, we think we know what the right path is for ourselves, but we do not. Our minds and hearts are lost because of the darkness of our own sins and selfish desires. We cannot even begin to know what the right road is for ourselves, let alone trying to lead our families as well.

John 12: 35-36 (NIV)

Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the Light while you have the Light, so that you may become children of Light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Let us, who are Christians, begin to shine the Light of Jesus into our own hearts so that we can find our way back to our Savior and Lord. Then let us turn the Light of Jesus to the lost world around us. Let us show the love of Jesus to others so that they too can be brought into the Light as well.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

Our only hope is the Light of our Savior and Lord. Let us all come to full and absolute surrender of ourselves to our God and Savior. It is then and only then will we be able to find our true rest with Him.
