This is a question many Christians ask of themselves. We know that our "Salvation" is not based on the works we do. We are saved through "Faith" in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, in what He did on the cross for us. Through His death and resurrection, He paid the penalty of our sins for us. We are not able to save ourselves.

Romans 6: 23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our salvation is a free gift of God that we receive by our faith. "Therefore, having been justified (accepted) by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Rom. 5: 1) It is through our faith in the sacrifice of God's Son on the cross. So how does our "works" play into our faith in Jesus? This is answered in the Book of Ephesians:

ree

Ephesians 2: 8-10:

For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Just as we had to "surrender ourselves" for our salvation by faith in God's grace, so we must also "surrender ourselves" to allow God to work His "works" through us. "For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works" (Eph. 2: 10).

It is not us who must do the work for God, it is God doing the work through us as we "absolutely surrender" all of ourselves to the power of the Holy Spirit in us. It is the Holy Spirit doing the work by the grace of God. All we must do is totally rest in our relationship with our God and let Him do the work.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

May we work "hand-in-hand" with God in our faith and our works by letting Him do the work through us. We have no need to grow weary in our Christian walk with God. All we need to do is rest and communicate (pray) with Him daily and allow Him to direct us where and what He wants us of do for Him.
