Our church service this past Sunday closed with a great song: ASCEND. The lyrics of this song reminds us as Christians that our hope does not lie with the things of this earth.
Ascend Lyrics:
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord,
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord,
Generation Pure and Holy.
I will not bow down to the idols of this word
My heart belongs to only You.
My voice will cry out and forever give you praise,
My King of Glory, My King of Glory...
As I sang this song with the congregation, our hearts were lifted up to praise our living God. But before I could praise Him, I had to come before Him with a repentant heart. My mind and heart had to be free of the idols of this world, the everyday pressures we face everyday of our lives.
It is so easy to fall back into the things of this world that holds us down...the anxieties, the worries of the world, and not allows us to "ascend" to the "Mountain of the Lord".
Let us not forget that before we can ascend to the "Mountain of the Lord", we must descend, "surrender", to our Lord and ask for His cleansing of our hearts that we may ascend and commune with Him.
I thank you God for the privilege You gave us to have a one-on-one relationship with you once again through the blood of Your Son, Jesus.
