When we, as Christians, finally come to recognize that we cannot begin to walk a "Christian life" before our God, without being "absolutely surrendered", is only the beginning of our challenging difficult journey of life.

The challenge remains within us. We are in constant battle with our Lord and God in trying to take back the reins of our lives. In his book, "Absolute Surrender", Andrew Murray, writes about this very issue of our surrender to God. He states the following:

ree

Chapter 5: IMPOSSIBLE WITH MAN, POSSIBLE WITH GOD

I pray you learn the lesson now. If you felt you could not do it, you are on the right road, if you let yourselves be led. Accept that position and maintain it before God: "My heart's desire and delight, O God, is absolute surrender, but I cannot perform it. It is impossible for to live that life. It is beyond me." Fall down and learn that when you are utterly helpless, God will come to work in you not only to will, but also to do.

Philippians 2: 13 (NKJV)

"For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure".

Ephesians 2: 10 (NKJV)

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 3: 20 (NKJV)

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

When we finally come to "absolute surrender" to God in our lives, we must always remember that we cannot maintain this "surrender" by our own self-will, it is maintained only by the power of the Holy Spirit working within us. We need to humble ourselves, trust God fully, and fear and revere Him. Our great example of complete and absolute surrender to God was Jesus, Himself. He maintained a constant communication with His Father and only did the Father's will, not His.

I Peter 2: 21

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

Let us follow in the steps of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Let us always be humble before our God and let us not be quick to try and take back the reins of our life. If we maintain this position in our hearts and minds: "There is no end to what God will do for us, and to the blessing God will bestow". (Andrew Murray, Absolute Surrender, Chapter 1)
