March 1, 2021: "It Is Well with My Soul", A Great Song of Comfort as We Place Our Trust in Our Lord.

This morning I am reminded of the great comfort we have in our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is our Great Comforter, Provider, our Savior, our Redeemer, our Shepherd, and most importantly our loving and Holy God.
In Psalm 23, the great Psalm of King David, reminds us of our Lord as our great Shepherd. The role of the shepherd is to protect his sheep at all cost. Nothing must come in his way of protecting his sheep. Psalm 23 states that "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures". (Read the following)
Psalm 23: 1-3
The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness,
For His name’s sake.
Psalm 23 presumes our full and absolute surrender to our Shepherd. We are allowing our Shepherd to lead us where He wants to take us, whether good or bad places. The Shepherd's reputation is at stake. He will only lead us in the path that is right for us. We must have total trust in the Shepherd's direction for our life.
It is through our "absolute and total surrender" to our Shepherd, our God, that we will find true rest for our souls. If we try to hold on to any part of our life, we will never truly find that comfort we seek. In the song, "It Is Well With My Soul", also highlights the same surrender we must give to our God to find the peace and comfort for our souls.

Do you seek true comfort for your soul? Are you tired of waking up every morning feeling uncertain of your life, not knowing where your life will lead you? Then turn your life over to our Great Shepherd and let Him lead you to the great comfort He has waiting for you.
