QUESTION 7:
It states in I John 4:12: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. That is, I cannot see God, but as a compensation I can see my brother, and if I love him God dwells in me. So, what is the way to show that I have fellowship with God and see He’s alive and working through me? (Page 21)
ANSWER To Question 7 (As stated by the Author)
That is, I cannot see God, but as a compensation I can see my brother, and if I love him, God dwells in me. Is that really true? That I cannot see God, but I must love my brother, and God will dwell in me? Loving my brother is the way to real fellowship with God. You know what John further says in that most solemn test, "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
This was a very eye opening statement for me. I was personally struggling loving someone in my life and I had to surrender this to the Lord and had to become obedient to God's word and command. I had to put my feelings aside and begin to love through my actions. Love is not a "feeling" but a commandment of obedience to our Lord.
