Joshua 7:13
Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”
In chapter 7 of the Book of Joshua, the children of Israel had just destroyed the city of Jericho and God had commanded Joshua that the army of Israel were not to take the "accursed things" of Jericho for themselves, for it would curse the camp of Israel, but the gold, silver, bronze, and iron they could take for this would be consecrated to the Lord.
Joshua 7: 18-19
And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. 19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the Lord; they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.”
When it comes to sin, God will have nothing to do with it. Our God is a holy God, and where there is sin in one's life, God will separate Himself from it.
Leviticus 10: 17
“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

As Christians, we are forgiven for all our sins the moment we accept Jesus into our hearts. But as we walk in this world, day-by-day, we still catch ourselves sinning in different areas of our lives. We must confess these sins moment-by-moment as they happen so our relationship with God is not interrupted.
Our position of forgiveness with God never changes because of the Blood of Jesus. But our relationship with God is interrupted because of our sin. It is like a relationship in marriage. When a husband and wife have an argument, there is a separation that happens until one or both confess their wrongdoing to each other. At the moment, of their confession to each other, they are brought back together in harmony.
It is the same way with God. When we sin, all He ask of us is to confess our sins and agree with Him that we did wrong, and our relationship is once again restored. It is through our daily surrendering and confessing of our sins that allows the Holy Spirit to be in control of our hearts and minds. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". (1 John 1: 9) (NKJV)
PERSONNAL COMMENT:
Let us not keep our eyes closed to the sins in our lives. Let us continually confess our sins as they occur so that our relationship with our Lord may not be interrupted. May the Holy Spirit always be in control of our "hearts and minds" as we remain "absolutely surrendered" to our God.
