Our lives can sometime feel like a battlefield with hostile fire coming from many different directions in our lives. We are bombarded with health challenges, financial problems, relational hurts, and spiritual stress.

Our spiritual well-being during these hard times should already be well rooted in the one and only foundation, our Loving Father. His love and protection that He has already established for us, should be the "core of our strength". In Psalm 11, King David amplifies God's greatness and acknowledges that God is the "King of the universe" and takes delight in His amazing capacity to judge with precision.

Psalm 11: 4-7

The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. 5 The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. 6 Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup.

7 For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

When the feelings of stress and confusion come rolling on us like a tidal wave, we must immediately come before our God in prayer and let Him know what we are feeling and be completely honest with Him. He already knows what we are struggling with, all He wants us to do is acknowledge these struggles to Him. We must run swiftly into the "shelter of God". When we run into God's shelter, His presence, we begin to feel His presence and comfort is with us and His peace will come upon us like a warm soothing embrace of a loving Father.

But there are conditions for us to be able to receive this comfort from God. First, and foremost, we must be one of His children that have received His grace that He offers through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus that we find the comfort that God has to offer us. And second, we must be willing to "absolutely surrender" all of ourselves to our God so that He can fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit that will lead us to victory in our battlefield of life.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

When we are going through the roughest times in our lives, we seem to want to hold on to the things or someone around us. But it is through these tough times that we should not look around for something or someone, but we need to fall to our knees and look up to our Heavenly Father, who is there waiting for us to come to Him, to give us comfort. So, let us not forget that the battle is already won. God won the battle for us on the Cross of Calvary.
