In Psalm 139, King David pours out his heart to God for he knows that God knows everything about who he is. God knows every step that David is or will be taking. But King David is not afraid of God knowing all this about him, because David has a close relationship with God, and he welcomes God to show him his ways. He knows that God will direct him down the right paths of life.

Psalm 139: 1-6 (NIV)
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue,
you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
For many of us, we fear for anyone to know us in this way, let alone God. But if we truly stop to think about it, why wouldn't we want to have our God know us in this way? Do we try and hide from God? Do we try and hide our deepest, inner secrets? That is impossible because God already knows them.
Psalm 139: 7-10 (NIV)
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
The best thing we can do is to "surrender" all of who we are to God and let Him guide our lives since He knows what is best for us, better than we can ever know. Think about it: Are you fully content in the way you have been running your life? Are you genuinely happy in the direction life has taken you? I know many of us can say we are not. Let us come to receive God direction for us with a joyful heart and not with a regretful heart. Let our words be the words of King David:
Psalm 139: 23-24 (NIV)
23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
PERSONNAL COMMENT:
If this is your desire in letting God be the "center of your heart", in letting your relationship with God be a relationship of "trust" and "absolute surrender", then let God know that today. Come before Him in prayer now and let Him know what you want. Remember, God will never force His relationship on us. We must "want" it and desire it. May you find the true peace in your life that you seek.
