QUESTION: 4
As stated by the author, the term “religious flesh”, how does he explain how this religious flesh effects a Christian’s walk with the Lord? (Page 69)
ANSWER To Question 4 (As stated by the Author)
You sometimes hear the expression used, religious flesh. What is meant by that? It is simply an expression made to give utterance to this thought: My human nature and my human will and my human effort can be very active in religion, and after being converted, and after receiving the Holy Spirit, I may begin in my own strength to try to serve God.
I may be very diligent and doing a great deal, and yet all the time it is more the work of human flesh than of God's Spirit. What a solemn thought, that man can, without noticing it, be shunted off from the line of the Holy Spirit on to the line of the flesh; that he can be most diligent and make great sacrifices, and yet it is all in the power of the human will!
Personal Comment:
Our human flesh and our self-will can easily take over our every decisions than taking everything to prayer to God first. Remember what it say in Philippians: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"; (Phil. 4:6 NKJV)
Everything we do, we should take everything to God in prayer, and I love what it says...with thanksgiving...meaning, we should be thankful even before we have our answer from God, because everything He does for us is for our best, whether it be: yes, no or wait.
