In the Book of 2 Chronicles, King Solomon had just completed the temple for God and had gathered all the people of Israel for its dedication. When all the singers, trumpeters and the priest began to praise God for His great covenant He had made with King David and with the people of Israel, the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud, which was the "glory of the Lord".

2 Chronicles 5: 13-14

Indeed, it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:

“For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,”

that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

God had kept His covenant with King David and fulfilled it with the completion of the temple by King Solomon. King Solomon was so filled with honor and humility that he humbled himself before God and prayed:

ree

2 Chronicles 6: 14-15...and he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. 15 You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

God has also given each one of us a covenant as well. That covenant was fulfilled with the coming of our Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. God had promised that He would send His Son, that He would become the Lamb who would take away the "sins of the world", and would reconcile and reunite His children, us, back to Him.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

What a great promise He was kept for us. This covenant should bring every one of us to our knees as well, as it did for King Solomon, and humble our hearts before our God with awe and humility. Let us give to God our "absolute surrender" to Him and allow the Holy Spirit to fill our "temples" and bring Him all the glory He deserves...Amen.
