Over this past weekend, I have completed reading the Old Testament from "The Daily Bible...In Chronological Order, 365 Daily Readings". I began reading "The Daily Bible" at the beginning of the year. I thumbed through the book to see when I would reach the New Testament. Dated, October 18, I marked the book, so that I knew I was coming to the end of the Old Testament and would begin the story of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The page was entitled: Jesus The Christ, (Ca. 5 B.C.-A.D. 30), The Coming of the Messiah. The reading of the bible in chronological order can give us a greater understanding of "God Love" for Israel, His chosen people, God's "Omnipotent" power over history, and God's Omniscient knowledge over the needs of mankind, us.

As I read the pages leading to this page, October18th, the book began to set the stage prior to our Messiah's coming. Between the Old Testament and the New Testament, lies four hundred years of history not recorded in the scriptures. Although, many books were written between that time, they were not included in what we know as the Holy Scriptures of the Bible.

Then I came upon the following paragraph that stood out like a "bright light" in the dark:

ree

Quotation From "The Daily Bible":

"Who is this Christ, this Messiah? His name is Jesus. His symbolic name, Immanuel (meaning "God with us"), signifies His deity. He is man, to be sure, but God as well; and He is God-the God of Creation-but man as well.

God lowers Himself so that man might be elevated. He leaves heaven so that man might enter it. To man, who cannot begin to understand the ways of God, it is clearly a great mystery. But what a marvelous and wonderful mystery it is!"

The power of God's love for us, that He would leave heaven so that we would one day be able to be with Him in heaven. His plan was created before the fall of Adam and Eve. God knew our weakness and failings would happen because of the free-will He gave us. But He wanted us to be able to choose Him, but at the same time, He knew that we would also need Him to lead the way, so He sent Himself, as Jesus, our Savior.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

What a great plan and good news God has prepared for us. But there is a major obstacle that stands in our way, our "self-will". We must choice to want to be with God in heaven. We must "absolutely surrender" ourselves and our self-will to Him to be able to receive this mysterious and heavenly gift of salvation. Are we ready to come home to be with our Father in heaven? Then say yes to Jesus today, and He will lead the way.
