As stated by Andrew Murray in his book, "Absolute Surrender", "Unity gives Strength". He further states..."It is only when God's people stand as one body, one before God in the fellowship of love, one toward another in deep affection, one before the world in a love that the world can see - it is only then that they will have power to secure the blessing which they ask of God.

Andrew Murray goes on to use the example of a broken cup to describe the brokenness of the church today. If we are living as broken pieces of a "whole cup", how then can we be filled fully with the power of the Holy Spirit working as "one vessel", as "one church".

It is because of our self-centeredness that we function as individual pieces instead of one whole church. It is through our independence that the world cannot see God's pure love through us. We must pray, "Lord, melt us together into one by the power of the Holy Spirit".

Jesus tells us in the Gospel of John how we should love:

John 13: 34-35

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Jesus' love for us was unconditional. He went obediently to the cross for us. All Jesus asks of us is to love one another so that the world can see the "love of God" through us.

PERSONNAL COMMENT:

I have failed God so many times in my own walk with Him. I have failed to love people God has put in my path at times. God constantly reminds me how frail I am without His power working through me. I can only walk by the full power of the Holy Spirit when I am "fully and absolutely surrender" to God every day. It is only then that I can love unconditionally as He has loved me. May God continually show you how to love as He has loved you.
