September 29, 2021: Are We Rooted and Grounded in God's Love and Power and Taking Full Advantage?

As we wander through our lives as Christians in this ever-changing world of darkness and deceit, I know that we must pray for God's love and power to be with us in this dangerous journey we call life. But so many times we feel that we must be walking in this journey alone. We say to ourselves, "Why is God not here with me...Why do I feel so alone?"


In the Book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul addresses these concerns to the Christians in Ephesus. They too struggled with these very same feelings, fears, and emotions. But Paul, fully understanding the power available to us through Jesus, our Lord, prayed the following for them:


Ephesians 3: 16-18a (NIV)

16 I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people...


But then the Apostle Paul goes on to explain the greatness, the depth and width of Jesus' love for us and that to know this kind of love, surpasses knowledge and understanding.


I have great news for you today as well. This great love of our Lord is fully available to us as well, every day of our lives. But to be able to tap into this "great love of Jesus", we must get out of the way. Yes, we must "absolutely surrender" all of ourselves to Him. We must allow this power to work though us. And this cannot begin to happen if we are still standing in His way.

Ephesians 3: 18b-21 (NIV)

...to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.


Imagine to be able to be "filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.". Is that even possible? Well, in the above verse it says it is! "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,"


PERSONNAL COMMENT:

The key words in these verses are: "according to "His power" that is at work within us." You see, this has nothing to do with what we do. All this power must come from the Holy Spirit's work within us. We have nothing to do with it. If we continually stand in God way, we will never be able to see and fully grasp the "full power" that is available to us. We must "absolutely surrender" all of ourselves to Him and get out of the way. If we do this, we will never feel alone again and will know that God is always with us through this journey of life.
